What is barefoot footwear?
Barefoot children's footwear respects the anatomy of the foot, allowing children to feel the ground and promoting healthy development of their little feet, contributing to the correct formation of the plantar arch, improving balance and strengthening muscles. This type of footwear provides a walking experience that is closer to what it would be like to walk barefoot, encouraging a greater connection with the environment around them.
How to identify barefoot footwear:
Smooth sole
Thin sole
(<4mm) to promote proprioception and healthy bone growth
Hard sole
Flexible sole
mainly in the finger area
Insole without anatomical shapes
Wide tip
that allows space for the fingers to move freely
Non-existent heel
(without reinforcement)
Velcro or laces to adjust to the foot
The use of footwear should be limited when safety conditions for walking barefoot are not guaranteed.
